The local paper, The Oregonian, lead it's "letters" section this morning with three letters that for me, define hate speech.
All three writers have jumped the gun and parroted the mis-informed High Commisioner of Disaster Relief for the UN, Jan Egelund, and even went further than that idiot did, by linking Bush's war policy to inadequate relief funding.
I would have expected such factual disconnect twisted into political hate to be found in the writings of Joseph Goebbels, Michael Moore or a skinhead hate flyer left on my lawn. I didn't expect it from this newspaper, but I got it anyway, and in the lead letters to boot.
The newspaper probably wanted to publish this sentiment itself, having subscribed to Bush-bashing themselves on occasion, but they lacked the courage of their convictions, so they cherry-picked three letters of hate and put them out front. I'll republish them below the fold.
