It's stupidity, not pacifism, to refuse to recognize that Good is taking a whipping these days from Evil.
It's even more stupid to sit back and take it. Over the past year, I've seen several examples of solid, right-wing bloggers taking hits in their personal and/or professional lives because of their blogs.
The latest, apparently, is Kim DuToit. He is THE class of gunbloggers, and he is THE de-facto leader of the mental movement called "The Nation of Riflemen". He and his wife have been putting together a software suite called "Did Today" that puts order into the very serious business of home-schooling. The suite functions to organize subjects for study, and keeps track of progress so well that the student and the parent need only log in to see an up-to-the-minute readout of the student's progress.
Home schooling is not politically correct, and Kim DuToit is not politically correct either. He had an investor dangle a chunk of venture capital in front of him, then tell him that to get the capital, Kim would have to close his blog. Kim, having flown to Chicago to meet this investor, then politely told him what the First Amendment meant to him, and then he declined the investor's offer.
Well, it seems that this investor either has an awful lot of clout in the venture capital world, or, and more likely in my old-cop's suspicious mind, Kim's other investors were on his payroll.
Kim was told by his other investors that he had to close his blog or lose his investment capital.
I have a conclusion, drawn from this event, the similar one that Joe Huffman, proprietor of Boomershoot!, and others have suffered.
We've been collecting weapons and practicing with them as is our right and DUTY, as US Citizens.
We may not have given much thought as to why we did this, but on this Independence Day, I know clearly why I maintain and practice with weapons of war: the enemies of Freedom have enormous power now, and finally, they are showing their willingness to use that power to un-constitutionally stifle the free expression of those who they disagree with. That stifling is not just with words now, it is with hateful and hurtful actions.
They have sown the wind, it is right that they now reap the whirlwind.
Go to the range. Practice for real, and not for pleasure. Your life WILL depend on your skill, very soon.
