Less of me, yes. The diet is working, so far, and the "medical supervision" one should have before going on one of these drastic shrinkages is next week (about 7 weeks after the fact of starting what is basically a starvation diet, in which I've been subsisting on not more than 1300 calories a day). I've lost 17 pounds so far, feel a lot better, and if it wasn't for a little left-over from the Vietnam war, a resistant foot-fungus (aka, "Jungle Rot"), I would be out jogging by now. I hope the doc is going to prescribe this drug, which the USAF had available back in '72 when I turned up with this disease, but didn't give me because it would have grounded me from flying for at least 6 months.
If he does, and I have other opinions that my constitution is strong enough to take the drug's tendency to savage the liver, I will finally be free of this 35-year little Asian revenge.
Also, I'm on what may be my major life quest. Already started it. I am writing a novel, my chef d'oeuvre (masterwork for those who don't speak French). I write a lot, besides these blogs. I have written two complete novels not worthy of publication, and started a third which would have been, except just as I got into the thick of the development of the character of the protagonist, my computer crashed and wiped out what I had done. I had very little of it on backup media, it was all on the hard drive. That was 12 years ago, and I have learned about computers since, and back everything up now to two different kinds of media and also a second hard drive. It's kinda like having sufficient ammo to finish the fight, if'n ya know what I mean, Verne.
I am doing this novel right. I have an active editor, and we will work together daily. She is trained as an English teacher, and knows the construction of the language better than I, and I'm a wordsmith. Target date for publication is next Spring or early summer, hopefully just in time to affect the election in a conservative way. As you might surmise, the novel will be an action-adventure fiction with (heavy) political overtones. If you've been a consistent reader of this blog, you will probably be able to guess what I'm doing here: nothing less than predict history before it's made, and wake a few people up (and making some moolah will also be on the list of goals).
Ever since I decided to write the novel (re-write it is a better choice, it is almost the same one I started 12 years ago), I have faced a dilemma, and that is whether to continue to keep an active blog or not, so for the last few weeks, I have reduced my level of blogging and given the time over to writing (for practice, I wrote a novella, just to test myself and my procedure. That's when the Editor got involved).
The gaps in the blogging are already too long, and I haven't faced many full writing days yet. Blogging takes blog-reading also, and it is the time for blog-reading I won't have time for.
I have come to the decision to take a complete hiatus from blogging until I finish the novel, all the way through the final galleys. When it is off to the publisher (and selling it will be a new experience), I will probably come back to blogging.
I hope I'm not disappointing many, but I suspect I already have with my slow-down. Hang in there, readers, and save up a few shekels to purchase the novel when it's done. It WILL get talked about, I promise.
