...Figures to be President Bush if he goes against the sense of the US Senate and provides TARP money to the Big Three (read, to the UAW).
Does this man have any shame left?
How could President Bush have fallen for the line of bullshit put out by GM and the UAW that the entire industry gets shuttered if they go to Chapter 11? I didn't fall for it, and no one I know has fallen for it, either.
The airlines had a rash of Chapter elevens. Most of them are still flying, and lost but a few days of air traffic at most.
It's simple, the UAW doesn't want to face that man in a black dress, on that high bench. They know that their unyielding attitude is going to get swept aside, but PRONTO.
But Bush acting as their back door man?
THAT, I don't get.
It will be your legacy, Mr. Bush.
I wrote mine before I read yours Rivrdog. Believe it or not.
President Bush deserves his legacy.

Yeah, the airlines got rid of some unfunded pension liabilities..some of the retired pilots had to settle for $25000 a year instead of the $100,000 per year but I suspect they survived..and 25 grand is a damn sight better than nothing.
The UAW retirees will have to accept a loss of benefits or no benefits before this is over with..and a new Rice Burner is looking better and better...
