I was thinking about just buying me a couple of mule teams..but the sumbitches wat to tax mule farts and my bet is that if we all went back to mules they would be taxing hay...gotta have that money for the highways...

Brick Oven Bill

Our national electric generation capacity is 1,022,000 Megawatts.

We consume 5,000,000,000 barrels of oil annually. At 1Bbl = 5,800,000 BTU; and 1,000,000 BTU = .293 MW-hr; my calculator is telling me that 5,000,000,000 Bbl/yr = 970,000 MW, nearly doubling capacity.

But the thermal losses are before the nameplate rating at the power plant. In the internal combustion engine, the losses are post oil (~80%). So the oil ‘work’ to be replaced seems to be (1/5) times 970,000 MW, or a national increase of ~20%.

This seems low to me, but it is what the calculator keeps saying.
