...yep, I made my "X" and signed on the crew of S/V Orion to help sail her down from Scappoose to Cathlamet, WA.
Orion is a 33' Nauticat motor-sailer. Serious auxiliary diesel, a 90-hp Lehman, and her ketch-rig will give her a 5-knot speed under canvas. She's a comfortable three-cabin vessel, with two staterooms and a fine pilothouse/salon.
Cathlamet, WA is a snug little harbor about 30 miles up the Columbia River from the Pacific. I make a yearly trip down there and back. Here's hoping this year's trip isn't quite as eventful as last year's. After Orion's Cap'n tells me off the crew on Sunday, I'll return to Scappoose, and get ready to cruise back down in Lofoten Girl, which will be crewed by your blogger, the First Mate and Ensign Bella, the Ship's Cat. We'll spend a fun five days on the river and in Cathlamet, which will be having their annual Bald Eagle Days festival.
Heh heh, good luck man!
