It could happen next year

It's a bright summer day, but the news out of Washington is so depressingly bad, it's hard to even write about our national leaders and their orgy of national self-destruction anymore.

Can't go to the range and shoot anything but .22, it's too damn expensive.

One thing keeps popping back into my mind, though, and that is this Honduras business.

The Hondurans had a Leftist President who was getting to the end of his Presidency, and by their Constitution, was term-limited out of office. Without going through his Legislature, he called a special election to modify the Constitution of Honduras to kill off the term limits. The opposition legislative leader sued, and won, all the way to the Supreme Court. He said he was going to hold the election anyway, and Socialist Hugo Chavez of Venezuela obligingly printed up the ballots after the Government Printing Office there was ordered not to print them. The ballots were sent to Honduras' traditional enemy, El Salvador, which is now run by Chavez buddies and/or the MS13 gang.

When Presidente Zelaya tried to have the military fetch and distribute the illegal ballots, and hold the illegal election, the Supreme Court of Honduras had a loyal part of the military arrest and forcibly exile him. The weasel is now fighting his own country from outside the country.

Banana-republic comedy? Not quite. Since the USA is trying to interfere on the WRONG side of the Honduran Constitution, as is the OAS and all the leftist governments down in that part of the world, this little drama provides an excellent opportunity to look into OUR national soul and see if it could happen here.

National polls of various polling outfits have shown a dramatic swing in voter sentiment since last November. Most folks now believe that Obama and the Democrats' handling of the economy is a disaster in progress, but Obama seems determined to ride out the discontent, and press ahead with the ruinous policies which are destroying the US Dollar for now and far into the future, as well as expanding the roles of the Federal Government beyond any limits the spirit and letter of the Constitution might impose.

There is growing sentiment for the Congressional Elections next year to turn the Democrats out of Congress, or at least reduce their influence below the absolute majorities that they hold today. Unless Obama, Pelosi and Reid can put the brakes on the economic disaster, such an overturn of Congress WILL happen next year, and the 112th Congress will be hostile to Obama and his policies. Obama then would be unlikely to retain the White House in 2012.

A fit end for a bad experiment?

Let's ignore for the moment the historical fact that the Republicans HAD the Congress just three years ago, and set the stage for the economic disaster by letting the economic wolves into the sheep of our greedy investment society. Let's ignore the fact that it was George W. Bush who set the stage for the dramatic expansion of the Federal government.

Let's look at the emotions that such a Congressional loss would have on the Left.

Suppose that the Honduran conditions prevailed here, that the Left, once turned out of office, refused to leave?

Here's a scenario:

The summer of 2010 proceeds into Fall, the tide has swept the Nation, and the Democrats lose their majority in the House, and it is reduced to one vote in the Senate. During the week after the Election, the Left springs into action, dredging up all the economy-busting and Constitution-busting bills that they tabled to try to stay in power. They are the Lame-Duck party now, but that doesn't stop them.

Using the same steamroller tactics we have seen glimpses of recently, Pelosi passes out bill after bill of budget-busting garbage and sends it to the Senate, where, thanks to the new Comedian from Minnesota, the sixty votes are there to close debate just like it was done in the House by Nancy's fiat.

Up to this point, it's political suicide, but all perfectly legal, but perfectly legal it does not remain.

Obama gets into the act by issuing a blizzard of Executive Orders. A controversial bill to repeal the Twenty-Second Amendment that limits Presidential terms to two has passed out of DeeCee and been sent out to the States for ratification. A desperate measure, it shows even more desperation when the President issues an executive order requiring the States to hold Special Sessions of their Legislatures to consider it, on pain of losing Federal grants.

A Constitutional Crisis develops, but with their usual "deliberate" speed, the SCOTUS is not in a hurry to address it. Obama uses the "bully pulpit", constantly reminding the nation that this is how the Equal Rights Amendment was defeated decades ago, by allowing it to expire after not being heard by the States in time. Enough States cave in, since the Feds have promised to reimburse them for the costs of their Special Sessions (also illegal, BTW). The Twenty Second is repealed, and quickly. It takes less than three weeks.

The President-for-Life is now encouraged.

Still in the Lame Duck session, he goes after the Second Amendment just like he did for the Twenty-Second. A constant stream of anti-right invective issues from the White House, and a few motormouth skinheads and the like are arrested for letting their beer-sodden mouths run away with their hummingbird asses. All of a sudden, Janet Napolitano says that there is about to be a violent overthrow of the Government, and the President issues the same directive to the States as he did just three weeks before.

The Second Amendment comes up before the pressured State Legislatures and they began to cave on it, one by one. By Christmas Day, the Amendment to End the Second is only two States short of succeeding. Gauleiter Napolitano pulls a plan out of a file cabinet, and gets ready to make the biggest gun-grab in the planet's history.

Nothing happens, except for a lot of whining from the NRA. Door to door searches ensue 20 to 30 people resist and are slaughtered. The rest of the populace rolls over, and the American Experiment ends as we are plunged into a thousand years of darkness. The collectivists weed out the rest of the non believers and send them to Bill Ayers re-education camps where they are worked, raped, tortured and beaten out of existence. They have been laying the groundwork for this for 60+ years, and we let it happen. Game over man, game over. Please prove me wrong.
