...and not from the giddy feeling one gets having just cheated death, either.
Get it? Did you get the full World Leftist flavor of that hastily-assembled motley crew of self-professed Muslims? That's what Hizzoner assembled that crew for. This isn't about the young Jihadi. It isn't even about the fire bomb at the Corvallis mosque. It's all about a bunch of off-shore leftists and their close allies, the anarchists, and their schmooze with Portland's Left.
A money quote:
Imam Muhammad Najieb of the Muslim Community Center in Northeast Portland echoed the concerns of many at the meeting who felt that the federal government could have handled Mohamud's case without going through with the fake bomb plot. (emphasis mine)
"I agree with the FBI in thwarting acts of violence against cities," Najieb said. "But why should they wait until I do it until I'm arrested? They can pick you or I up for a threat. Whatever happened to probable cause?"
What happened, Imam, is that you don't have a clue as to what constitutes Probable Cause in the statute you believe that you read. Probable cause IS NOT created until a "substantial step" towards completion of the threat has been made by the perpetrator. The FeeBees relied on the same precedent that the defendant's lawyers will cite: talk is cheap, talk is not a substantial step towards completion of the act, and talk is ALWAYS protected by the First Amendment. Maybe if you actually studied our culture, read our Constitution, and knew how OUR system of law worked, Imam, you might have known this. Maybe you DO know this, and are just practicing Taqiyya, "approved lying", to protect the tenets of Islam.
Then we have the boilerplate "disaffected youth" statements:
Tugrul Keskin, an assistant professor of Middle East studies at Portland State University, said that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have played a role in pushing young Muslims in the United States and abroad toward radicalization.
Professor, if you actually walked the halls of your University (and my alma mater), you would know that your Middle East Studies Center has ALWAYS been a hotbed of Middle Eastern revolutionary fervor (at least since 1963, when I transferred there). That's why few from that region's royal families have been educated there, only the radicals. I bet YOU knew that also. More Taqiyya.
How about this boilerplate:
Another man, who would not give his name, said disaffected youth of all religions are capable of violence, linking the bomb plot more to incidents like the Columbine school shootings than to 9/11.
That's the Obama take on it: there's no military or cultural conflict to see here, it's just a crime and resulting police action, move along, please.
I told you that the spin machine was ginning up, and I told you that two days ago.
