Heading into the last day of the Sportsman's Show, some conclusions: the dollars for my new company are not going to come from individual members at first. I will hit the corporate donation trail starting tomorrow. I HAVE gotten a lot of interest going, though, and that's a good start. I've gotten hundreds of "attaboys" and not a single "f##k off".
Ok, doors just opened, time to put the "sell face" on and get back to work.
Seems to me that the folks who are hit hardest by this are the boat vendors and fishing supply stores. Start with the places that you patronize and ask for referrals, and publish your sponsors on the website.
Maybe you could get them to offer a dollar off coupon for members, so that you can track how many people you steered to his store.
After all, if they close the river to fishermen, it will hit the boat salesmen and fuel vendors much worse than it will hit the fishermen - they will just find someplace else to fish, or stay home and watch sports. Heck they will save money by buying their fish at the grocer, instead of spending all that time, money and effort to catch their own.
Find the people who will be most impacted by the change, and make them aware of their problem, and make it their problem. Then offer to help.
