...with a Barrett Mk 82A1 in .50 BMG. An Aussie sniper armed with one recently offed a Taliban sojer at over 3,000 yards. It is unlikely that the Taliban troop ever knew what hit him, since the bullet got there several seconds before the rifle's report.
Most folks can be trained to hit at 1 MOA with a modern hunting rifle, out to 600 yards (7 inch target at 600 yards).
It would be interesting to take all of Gene Econ's students and stack them up against a sample of police SWAT/SERT team riflemen, in a friendly competition, of course. I'll wager, here and now, that Econ-trained precision rifle shooters would at least hold their own, if not OWN the competition. The average student shoots a normal hunting rifle, as I did in Boomershoot two years running, and hit the 4" boomer upon Open Fire, with a cold barrel, at 385 yards, both years in a row. The rifle was/is a normal Winchester Model 70 Sport, in .243 Winchester caliber, with a normal-to-cheap Nikon Pro Staff 3X9X40 optic. The spotting scope is a Bushnell $100 model, not some $5K Swaroski.
Yep, fear trained and practiced precision riflemen. There are probably over a million of us out here. Most of us believe in our Constitution.
