101% right, with one small addition. I am pro public service in general, but education today is excessively leftist. One finds a reasonable left/right diversity within law enforcement or parks and sewer workers, but not so in education. Ivory tower mentality, I am the teacher, I am right, my job is to show up, production goals don't matter. So I can theorize, without any responsibility. These students will be gone in a year and I'll be dealing with new ones.
I find it difficult to blame the students. They are being brainwashed by the powers that be within their sphere of power and influence. Some may argue for a more balanced outlook, and grades suffer accordingly. Others may reject the mentality but not voice their opposition out of prudence. But the majority will embrace what is taught.
"Education" and society are at fault, not the passionate and gullible kids. How is one going to change that other than with one's own kids and maybe a rather small sphere of influence? First off? Make your blog required reading.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Thank you, sir!
