The LA Slimes goes into full attack mode on the US culture, going right back to the Founders and attacking them personally. History modification doesn't get much more stark than this.
The way THIS culture warrior sees things, if they are going after the very foundation of our society to bring it down, it's time to take the culture war into the next level, say, at about 2500 feet per second.
In the Second Republic, it WILL be a crime to bring such talk using history modification. History will be accepted in the spirit of the time during which it was made, not with the hindsight of people whom the Founders wouldn't have given the time of day to. The Founders, of course, WERE upstanding men of their time. The fact that time and custom has changed (for the worse!) does not alter the fact that the Founders held the respect of their fellow men (and no, the respect of the women did not count in those days).
The days of this Republic are numbered, and so are the the stylings of today's writers who feel free to believe that they are time travellers.
A letter from about a week ago. The Boregonian only publishes about 6-8 letters per week, because they are a minimalist cage-liner these days. This letter likely will not make it into print.
Our ruling elites have, in their infinite wisdom, accepted the public risks associated with granting legality to another intoxicating substance, cannabis, and they say they did this out of an abundance of concern for progress in individual liberty.
Why do these same ruling elites then turn around and force onerous restrictions on another public risk, that of keeping and bearing firearms, the risks of which are already accepted by being firmly enshrined in our Bill of Rights?
I must have skipped the section in our Constitution which permits our elites the use of illogic, hypocrisy AND the denial of civil rights.
The GOP got part way to the nuts and bolts that the failure in Benghazi represents, then they stopped when the (D)onks erected their stonewall.
The problem is this: prior to Obama, the United States Marine Corps protected our embassies. 230+ years of protecting our embassies. Generally doing a fine job, too. Along comes our Muslim-appeasing President, decides that the USMC presents too much of an "old-days" image, and orders them replaced with security "contractors". Well, that wouldn't be TOO bad if those "contractors" were of the usual make-up, that is to say, mostly ex-military, young Western hard men who know a thing or two about security and handling bad guys.
But no. These "contractors" were locals hired directly onscene by the State Department. The person in charge of security for the State Dept? A retired Army General or Colonel, maybe?
Not bloody likely, mate. The person in charge back in DeeCee was Eric Boswell, a career diplomat with two years or less of military service, none of it current, and his military time was served during the Vietnam War, 1968/1969, when he was 21 years of age. Sounds like a Private to me; had he been an officer with leadership training, he would have had a minimum 4 or 5 year committment to the Army, not a two-year committment. His military "experience" means nothing. Unless he had Pentagon officers kissing up to him during his career, he was not likely to have been involved with the military at all.
The Benghazi "contractors" had already shown their lack of value in the weeks prior to the attack, being notable more for their failure to appear for duty than anything else. There WERE a few attentive men in that crew, but it turned out that they were front-men for Al-Q's operation. They provided the details to enable the attack.
The GOP desperately wants to derail Hillary's expected candidacy (or so they say), and they have a ready-made issue with which to do it: that issue is NOT Benghazi per se, that issue is why she either agreed with Obama or suggested the de-militarization herself, we don't know which.
Senator McConnell, this hot potato is in your hands (or is it a turd in your pocket?).
The GOP either needs to give up trying to derail Hillary because their heart's not in the game, or they need to set Benghazi aside for the moment and attack the larger embassy security issue. I suggest that the GOP call on retired USMC GEN Mattis, who can speak to the use of Marines to guard embassies. In fact, if the GOP could get GEN Mattis to act as their military advisor, they would be miles ahead of Obama, who has to make do with the mess of a military that he and Gates created.
Craps, you lose, Jesse. A&E rolled the bones and crapped out earlier.
Editor's note: Jesse got two people cornfused. It was Megan Kelly who opined that Santa was a Caucasian. "Duck Commander" Phil Robertson, a Christian evangelist, lay preacher and Sunday School teacher, referred to the Bible's position that homosexuality is a sin in his Gentleman's Quarterly interview. Megan Kelly might have raised a race issue, Robertson did not. GQ, of course, is concerned entirely with sexual identity conflicts in men's clothing, nothing more. Seems to me that Duck Dynasty-brand clothing is unlikely to be worn by GQ's metrosexual readers, whose idea of outdoors is sipping a latte at a sidewalk cafe, not hunting ducks in the Louisiana bayou.
Jackson's clumsy attempt to inject racial discord where none existed before seems to this observer as a desperate attempt to have "another fifteen minutes of fame".
The loud "THUD" you heard is Jesse Jackson's head hitting the deck after his latest swan dive, but don't worry, Jesse didn't hurt that head. Solid bone there; his brain, if any, is in his ass.
We on the Right like to use Eric Holder's failed Fast & Furious operation to beat him and his boss up with. Okay, but a dangerous splinter hangs off that cudgel.
The NRA correctly tells us that "guns don't kill people, people kill people". That is the ULTIMATE truth in the gun control "debate", isn't it? I think so.
We need to stop saying that "Eric Holder's gun killed Brian Terry". That statement just doesn't fit. If we want to keep on thumping Holder for Gunwalker, that's fine, there's plenty of fail in his op to thump him with. Personally, I'd bet serious money that the Justice Department DOES know exactly who killed Brian Terry, so why hasn't the USDOJ issued a warrant yet?
Bottom line: Holder, for all his faults, did not Kill Terry, so stow that sentiment please.
The latest school shooter, in Arapahoe High School in Colorado, killed himself, but left behind his legacy, a Facebook Page filled with admiration of the left's agenda, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff.
Let's add it up, shall we?
Lefty high school student, had recently suffered a personal reverse (failed to place well in a debating group).
School without adequate security to prevent an assailant from entering with a less-than-concealable long arm.
School with inadequate armed security (if any, some reports say there was one resource officer, some don't say that). It WAS a gun-free zone.
Nope, didn't fit the agenda. Put away the blood-dancing shoes. Freeze the gun-control commentaries in the press. Too much danger of the shooter being properly identified as lefty-looney, therby killing off the Marxist "necessity" for a gun-control push.
The gun-controllers are losing because their case is shallow, over-hyped AND it fails strict scrutiny of the Constitution.
Observe this process. It is carefully calculated to attack the Bill of Rights.
There was a mall shooting a year ago in Oregon. A crazy guy went into a mall full of Christmas shoppers and opened fire with a stolen rifle, killing two, but when a Concealed Carry person drew on and aimed at him, he ran off to a remote part of the mall and killed himself.
The simple fact of history from the Clackamas Mall shooting was that the Second Amendment didn't start the shooting, it ENDED it.
That simple explanation doesn't fit the agenda of the Left, who want to eliminate the Second Amendment, so, in a carefully-laid plan to "memorialize the victims", they have deliberately left out mention of Nick Meli, the armed citizen who stopped the shooter's rampage without firing a shot.
The Left is AGAIN revising history to suit their agenda. I am AGAIN bringing out the HISTORY book to remind folks of the truth of the incident.
Exhibit A: in today's Oregonian:
The "commentary" mentioned there is from a MAIG supporter, and does not mention the armed citizen. The link goes to a list of articles, none of which promenently mention the armed citizen. There ARE, however, plenty of mentions of gun control ideas with which to weaken the Second Amendment.
This blog does not believe in defensive warfare. Never has, never will. I offer the following solution:
Since the "free press" is not free, but is totally enrolled as a major political tool of the Left, it has ceased to deserve the protection of the First Amendment. In the State of Oregon, all political organizations which seek to press the Government for a political end must Register as Lobbyists.
It's time the press was Registered as lobbyists, and it's time that they are forced to follow the strict rules that all political lobbyists have to follow.
If any of my two or three regular readers live in Seattle, you may object to this post, because it pans one of your local self-made men, Jeff Bezos, and his firm, Amazon dot com.
Back story: I found the perfect Xmas present for one of my daughters. It is a JIS 9000, waterproof and rubber armored "boom-box". Note that the definition of such has changed in the last 30 years. Boomboxes used to weigh 20#+, and take up the entire back seat of your Honda Civic. These were also known as "ghetto blasters". This one I just bought (well, I THINK I've bought it, it's not here yet) Is tiny by blaster standards, but it's what the yutes go for now. Good for them, they're keeping their music more personal.
But I digress.
So, I buy this item online, and immediately start getting bombarded with emails by Amazon. First email was one asking if I wanted to keep shopping. Deleted. Then, one stating that they had received my order. Saved it. Then another exclaiming that they were processing the order. Deleted, then one stating it had been shipped. Saved it. Then several more stating it had been shipped. Trashbin.
Then a curious phenomenon: I start getting phone calls from something called QRI. They called for two days, maybe 8 to 10 calls. I never answered any of them and they never left a message, but I did get curious: after research, it seems that they are associated with Amazon! Will wonders never cease? My research said they would remove me from their robocall stack, dial their # back and hit a two. Did that and the calls ceased, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. a scammy taste.
Then, this ayem, I get up and look at the email. Some outfit I never heard of, "TechGiant", wants me to evaluate my purchase. Strange, since I had ordered it as a present and wrapped and the purchase had not involved "TechGiant".
There are smoke and mirrors here. Why? Has Amazon gotten too big too fast? Why doesn't their site tell you up front who you are actually purchasing from? EBay does that, so why can't Bezos? Why doesn't TechGiant show up in searches? There is just no information out there on them. Amazon DOES have a review system, but there is none for TechGiant. If I had answered that email and reviewed my purchase, where would the review have gone? This reminds me of the gamblers who used to ride the buses in DeeCee where I grew up, doing their Shell Game for nickels and dimes...
Now, add this experience to another difficulty I just had with the Amazon about my Kindle account, and well, I have lost faith in this company to do business in a fair, trustworthy and equitable manner.
