Who says Bush asked Rummy to step down?

I have my own theory.

Rummy decided that he just didn't want to deal with the inevitable "independent counsel" investigations, drummed up charges, allegations and innuendo. He's been at the forefront of Democrat Ire for a while and he can see the handwriting on the wall. He would be in for a rough two years if he stayed.

Much better to be sitting at home sipping martinis and watching the kangaroo court festivities on the Wide Screen in HD and 6.1 surround.

Of course, the huge thing with this little bit of news is it's timing: it is an IMMEDIATE concession to Mme. Pelosi and the Democratic Party.

It is also a HUGE flip-flop for Bush, since he said less than a week ago that Rumsfeld would be his Sec'y of Defense until the end of his term as POTUS.

Flip-flopping looks bad, very bad for the future.

If he'll flip-flop on Rummy, what's his next flip-flop to be?

I have a bad feeling that it will be on the Second Amendment.

Ron Fowler

He should have done the "I have the veto pen right here" a long time ago.
