There's actually a very real possibility that you've been issued a new card and just haven't received it yet. We've gotten three cards replaced automatically in the last week or two with letters saying that a retailer *might* have had our numbers compromised, so they weren't taking any chances and issued new cards. With new numbers. Oh, and don't forget that anyone that is scheduled to take money off your card won't be able to until you give them the new number, they pointed out to us.

Each one came in an envelope that I almost just tossed/shredded thinking it was junk mail. Plain, unlabeled envelope and the like.
