Thanks for the story; as Paul Harvey used to say, "and now you know the rest of the story". I, to, enjoy Bluegrass. I also enjoy Jazz and some country-western. I think they are all particularly American inventions (although when I was touring Italy and finally figured out the @#$%^&* German Radio, we heard Country-Western music IN ENGLISH in Tuscany).

Your story about "Fiddling Bill" also reminds me of a story I had read once of trench warfare in WW1 where piano music used to waft over no-man's land to the British position. Night after night, Chopin, Lizt, Mozart, until one night after a raid, there was no more music.
