KATHY MALOOLEY

I enjoy watching your shows. But, the Economy routene is like Letterman"s top 10--NOT funny.
YOU HAVE SO MANY OTHER ROUTENES LIKE "THE pHOTO bOOTH" WHICH ARE FAR MORE ENTERTAING.

At this point in the Reserves, the Quality Management Program is in full effect. The major people being hit are high ranking folks who don't have a solid position, and junior enlisted who are double and triple slotted. They're not being allowed to re-enlist, and the high-ranking folks are being told "Thank you, but you either need to retire to go to the IRR." I know of at least four different Colonels and two Sergeant Majors who were given their walking papers in my small corps alone. Army-wide, it's a lot larger.

With the war in Iraq drawing down, the days of pulling everyone in had to come to a close. All the extra Soldiers that we could afford with two wars we can't afford any more.

I wondered about that, Dave, but I quoted the statement anyway. Guess I shouldn't have. I guess any number put out by any department of this Administration is probably a lie.

National Guard ain't hiring either. They're full. The days of "Oh well, I can always join the Army" are over.

I'll tell you one thing for certain...many people are going to be under-employed for the rest of their lives. I never thought I'd see this, I really didn't. The times have changed, and most people weren't looking. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. Everyone should be thinking about plan B.
