Back in the happy days of my yoot, a local gunsmith of no small talent and skill was making take-down conversions of M94 Winchesters. He'd do it to nice ones he took in trade or bought from distraught widows, good sound rifles, of common lineage. I just couldn't make the tariff, about $175, back when a new M94 was $93.50 retail everywhere. I sure wish now that I could have, his conversions were very high class, almost invisible when the rifle was assembled and guaranteed to shoot as well as any new M94 Carbine.
