Sir I list no qualifications to prove my betterment of you because none exist. Sorry did not know there are different classes of citizens. My copy of the Constitution does not have that clause ln it

EDITOR'S NOTE:

Neither does my copy, IH. The wise Founders of our Nation wrote their guidance to be minimalist, for a minimalist government. They were, however, all educated men, and many of them also wrote extensively on the human condition of the time. Wherever the Founders discussed this issue, you can see that they made a clear dividing line between the artificial, hereditary class system of the Kings and Queens of Europe, and the true class shown by individuals with a good conscience. It is this difference I refer to with my more modern tone: Government pretenders heap what they think is "class" upon themselves by fiat and edict, but men and women of good purpose actually demonstrate the fact that they are better than that, day by day.

We don't really disagree, IH, you look for your guidance to the original words of our Constitution, which makes no class distinctions, and I applaud you for reminding all of that reference. I look to my experiences which have shown me good from evil, and class from classless, and try to explain those differences on this blog. Some days I do a better job of it than other days. Some days, I manage to blend in some humor with the lesson, and some days I fall flat on that score. I let all my readers decide.

You have decided I fell flat. You are certainly entitled to that opinion. Perhaps others will agree, and some may disagree, or perhaps no one will say a thing (that happens all too often). Regardless, I will go on. Thank you again for your contributions, and I hope you keep reading and commenting here.

Again difficult on tbis phone. Do not mean to be advisarial.would love a verbal conversation. e mail and will return a number if you wish

EDITOR'S NOTE:

I would do a vis-a-vis if I thought that I might benefit from same, but given your mindset, sir, that possibility seems remote. Let's just say we had a polite conversation and call it a day.

Continued :
My qualifications are as follow : An American citizen an therefore subnect to all the God given rights enumerated in the Constitution. All else is chest beating.

EDITOR'S NOTE:

We are both US citizens, IH. I asked you to list the qualifications of why you might be my better. You have a fairly wide definition of "chest beating" there, sir, if you fail to recognize service to one's Nation and service to one's Community as improvements on citizenship, rather than as "chest beating", as you prefer to. BTW, that's your second strike, sir. The first one was your loose use of "An Only One".

Rivrdog, difficult to have long conversation from from a phone but I wl try to explain my concerns with your recent post. First, do you know for a fact the other driver does not have your license number? What if he wreckes his car the next day? You have pictures showing no damage from his contact with you right? You admit in your post to drinking, yours would the first jury ever to here it was only one. I have property on the east coast of Ore. in Baker Co. I am familiar with Ore. firearm laws. You mentioned the effect of your possion on the situation, why? Why? Why not exchange info. take pictures and go about your (way? His lawyer will work on contingency, wi(ll yo
urs?

EDITOR'S NOTE:

IH, no exchange of information is required if there is no damage and no injury. In that case, even though there was contact between vehicles, there is nothing that qualifies as an accident requiring an exchange.

I'm curious as to why you feel that every time a vehicle touches another vehicle, it must be reported as an accident. When I parallel-park, I try not to touch bumpers, but I sometimes do. I'm sure other drivers have this same issue. How about when you are diagonal-parking and you collide with the curbstone? How about bumping through a bad pothole? all those actions have you creating a shock to your car. They are never accidents unless damage ensues, or injury is reported. Around here, the City takes a dim view of claims filed even when there IS damage from pothole vs. car suspension claims. BTW, there was an eyewitness to the whole thing, and I can have that eyewitness report if there were a later claim.

The whole thing was a non-issue, and even had humor in it for me, which is why I related it. Humor might be a rarer commodity out on the Snake, I'd guess.

Robert Mitchum also sang in "Heaven knows Mr Allison". He sang "Don't sit under the apple tree" to Deborah Kerr. He also danced, sorta

EDITOR'S NOTE:

Wow, Larry, just wow! I bow to your knowledge of all things Mitchum.

Background on the Oregon CCW law: Oregon permits unlicensed CCW when going to, or returning from, a hunting or fishing expedition. OC is permitted by City/County option, and was legal in that county the last time I fished there, which was often when I was younger. In fact I used to attend a yearly service club function at Prineville, in a County Park there, and most of the club went about openly armed, and even discharged those arms on the public open land near the park. Oregon, East of the Cascade Mountains, is a very gun-friendly place.

IH, they get picky over in ID. Anyway, read it again. A lite beer with lunch isn't considered drinking and driving. The story tells you that my system had more than enough time to metabolize one beer before I took to the road. An accident in Oregon is defined as a collision which involves reportable damage, and this "collision" involved none (for all I knew, he might have backed into me). The Sheriff permits me to wear that belt buckle, he sold it to me. Please explain your reference to "an only one". I presume it's sarcasm, which is permitted without explanation, but if it's a political accusation, it needs explanation.

The youth barely spoke English, and only with a heavy Latin accent. His car was decorated with a faux-Aztec graphic covering two quarter panels. Yes, I do, in fact, profile car owners by how they accessorize their cars. I was taught to do that in the Sheriff's Academy 39 years ago.

Finally, the matter of the OC/CC. Despite the heat, I was wearing a vest which should have covered the weapon, but might not have. I thought it humorous to illustrate the denouement of the youth as he initially sought to chastise me, but suddenly realized he was calling out one of his betters. My question to you, Idaho Hunter, is why do YOU consider yourself one of MY betters. Please list your qualifications.

IdahoHunter

Let 's see... Drinking and driving, involved in an accident, displaying a firearm, representing yourself as LEO, to cover what you admit was your fault. Normal day for an Only One. Please just how in Hell did you know the person you hit was from "South of the Border " the mufflers on his car?
