Tom and I are personal friends, although we moved away from Natchitoches, LA at the end of the last century. His kids and mine went to school together, and his wife and mine taught together, so we'd see each other frequently.

Tom and I became shooting buddies during the early '90s and he would bring guns to my farm to shoot. He asked me once what I thought of a particular trigger and I told him that they had managed to combine the worst aspects of take-up, sear break, and overtravel into the most horrible trigger I had ever felt. They could have done better with a horseshoe rasp. Tom laughed and said that he couldn't put that in the article.
